Certified Tutor

Throughout my five years of tutoring, my philosophy has centered around meeting students at their level of understanding and equipping them with the right tools to not only find immediate answers but develop strategies for future independent problem-solving. I am a San Antonio native and graduated from St. Mary's University with my Bachelor of Science in biology with chemistry minor and pre-med focus. I worked for the university as a biochemistry teaching assistant, a peer tutor, and a tutor trainer for writing and STEM subjects. I am most passionate about tutoring genetics, general chemistry, writing, and ESL. I enjoy helping students increase their confidence and self-expression. Through tutoring, I consider myself fortunate to be able to connect with individuals of different backgrounds, fields of interest, and learning styles. In addition to tutoring undergraduate and graduate students, I have also volunteered with first grade students through San Antonio Youth Literacy. My favorite approaches with them included helping concepts click through fun games, as well as fostering a learning environment of patience and empathy. Regardless of a client's age, my core philosophy is to treat them with respect. I strive to encourage a growth mindset and improved self-reliability. I believe that education is a vital part of empowering individuals for a fulfilling future. Since graduating, I have worked as a medical scribe and an APA style dissertation editor. Along with preparing for Physician Assistant school, I enjoy writing fiction, art, reading, watching films, cooking, gardening, fitness, meditation, and casual gaming.
