I received a Bachelors in Fine Arts and Masters in Education from Truman State University and have been teaching visual arts in public schools for 10 years. As part of my K-12 certification I familiarized myself with a wide variety of art-making techniques from painting to sculpture. Professional Development is very important to me; I continue to take courses and gain certifications to increase my knowledge and ability to help others. I am most passionate about Art History and how we can observe the interconnections of culture and art over time. Visuals impact our daily lives and the ability to decode them is crucial to the understanding of our world.

As an art teacher I am often creating in my spare time; my favorite methods of making are fibers (crochet, felting, weaving, etc.) and pen and ink (caricatures and abstract drawings). When not making art I love to garden, hike, read and hang with my kiddos. At school I run our GSA, Environmental Club and Art Guild.
