I graduated summa cum laude from Kent State University in 2011, with a Bachelor's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. I was a peer tutor for 1.5 years at the Kent State Writing Center, where I assisted a wide array of students from freshman level to PhD candidates. After college, I taught ESL to adults in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Cleveland, OH. I have experience working with adult students from many different cultures and educational backgrounds. I have also spent time learning a second language, and I understand how difficult the experience can be. I minored in German language at Kent State University and in 2014, I completed a two-month language course at the Goethe Institute in Germany. I continued to work in arts and education as a Director's assistant at a children's theater camp, and then as the Enrollment Manager at a music-centered preschool. In addition to my experience in education, I also worked for over five years in the business sector as a customer service and global mobility professional. In my role, I provided services to employees moving to a new country for their job. Those services included arranging intercultural training, and coordinating help for employees in finding a home, enrolling their children in school and applying for their driver's license. In 2019, I earned the industry certification of Global Mobility Specialist (GMS). I have learned first-hand the language and writing needs of business professionals. I am passionate about helping students improve themselves, achieve their goals and gain a sense of personal accomplishment through education. I feel privileged to help students improve their writing, reading and language skills, and learn more about the world around them. My teaching approach is kind, patient and respectful. In my spare time, I love to read, write and play piano.
