Certified Tutor
I am a DCPS English teacher. I have taught 11th grade English and will be a Reading Specialist for 9th and 10th grade this coming year. I'm also currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Education through Johns Hopkins where I am learning even more about how to be the best culturally responsive teacher I can be. Before working in DC Public Schools, I studied English at Sewanee: The University of the South and worked there as a writing tutor for three years. I love examining a good story with my students and guiding them through the process of drawing out a text's greater relevance to their own lives. I also enjoy helping young writers develop their own personal style and voice as they learn the mechanics of writing essays.
