As a college instructor, with a research focus in social work and health promotion and public health I conducted qualitative and quantitative research in positive youth development, healthy outcomes, and well-being. I have extensive research experience and abilities as I have written and published over 15 research papers, given countless research presentations and posters, and have managed social science research labs. In addition to my extensive writing and research skills I have tutoring and mentoring experience with college student-athletes. Specifically, I have tutored social science and humanity-based subjects such as writing, literature, reading comprehension, and research-based courses. Additionally, I have mentored middle and high school-aged students in academic and non-academic settings. My favorite subject to tutor is writing. I enjoy brainstorming, outlining writing topics with students, experiencing the writing process together, and seeing the final product--that many students are proud of. I believe that every student should have the opportunity to learn and find joy in learning. It is my responsibility to encourage a fun and motivating learning environment for all students. My approach to teaching is student-focused and strength-based, I believe all students can contribute something unique to their own learning.
