Certified Tutor

I am a recent graduate of Randolph-Macon College with a bachelor of science in chemistry and a minor in biology. I have a College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification for my job as a college chemistry tutor for the past two years. I have tutored introductory, inorganic, organic and analytical chemistry. I have also been a research student in an organic chemistry lab at R-MC for the past year as well as a chemistry teaching assistant in high school. I love tutoring chemistry because I have a passion for helping others learn. I love being the leader of a field of expertise and being able to share my education with others. I hope to help students become more confident and comfortable approaching challenging problems and create their own creative ways to conquer them; this adaptable way of thinking is a worthwhile investment for the future. My tutoring style is a step by step, meet you where you are style. I am willing and eager to teach students no matter their previous knowledge on the subject. I love drawing out pictures, using lots of practice examples, and being able to relate problems to real world usage. I encourage my clients to be open and honest about their challenges because their is absolutely no shame in not knowing anything about the subject! So please don't feel intimidated, I am so happy to be here for you!
