I am a rising junior at Columbia University studying English and Russian Literature. I love engaging and empowering students in order to help them unlock their full potential. I have been tutoring consistently for the past three years, primarily working on ACT, SAT, and SSAT/ISEE/SHSAT preparation in the greater New York City area. I also have experience working on overarching study skills and essay writing and have worked with students for whom English is a second language. I am most interested in tutoring the ACT Reading and English and SAT verbal sections, as this is where a majority of my experience lies. Prior to relocating to Connecticut for the time being, I was working as an English/verbal tutor at a tutoring agency based in Brooklyn. I am passionate about finding what works for every student, whether that be a chat about revising an essay, grammar drills, or test-taking time management skills. I believe it is my job to find the synergy between my tutoring skills and your child's unique learning style.

I often find that many students who gripe and groan about learning English ("why does this even matter, anyways?" is my favorite complaint to answer) or who are unsure test takers have excellent verbal and writing skills; they simply lack confidence in their analysis or their writing. I strive to instill into every student I work with that their thoughts are valid and meaningful, especially when written in a clear, concise, and thoughtful manner. My goal is not just to work on a student's writing or test-taking, but to make them a better, more confident learner who is able to tackle tasks independently.
