Certified Tutor

I am an educator with twenty-two years of teaching experience. I specialize in teaching students in the areas of English language arts, special education, early childhood education including kindergarten readiness and English as a second language. In addition, I am trained to teach the Orton Gillingham system of phonics, phonemic awareness and spelling. Over the course of my career, I have taught English as a second language in Taipei, Taiwan to elementary school children. In addition, I was a classroom teacher in a large urban public school system for nine years as a classroom teacher of first graders and a special educator working with students from early childhood to fifth grade. Ten years of my career was spent teaching in private, independent international schools overseas. I taught early childhood and second grade as a classroom teacher in Kathmandu, Nepal. Then, I returned to teaching students with mild special education needs at one of the premier private international schools in Vietnam. Most recently, I taught fourth and fifth graders at a Friends School in Louisville, Kentucky.

I am excited to be continuing my career as an online educator with Varsity Tutors. I started teaching for Varsity Tutors in January 2020 and have taught students from five year olds to twenty-five year olds on the platform. I have taught the subjects of literacy, English as a second language, reading comprehension for elementary and middle school, math, science and the Orton Gillingham phonics system. I am confident I can assist you with your tutoring needs.
