Hello! My name is Karen Kress. I am a lifelong lover of words and language. I am an avid reader and I love to write. Tutoring students is one way I can share my skills.
I studied English Literature in college and minored in History. Later, I completed a second degree in Theatre Arts, which complemented my love of dramatic literature. In particular, I enjoy Shakespeare and 20th Century dramas. I've worked in fund raising for a professional theatre. Currently, I work in healthcare, as an office manager for a medical practice.
I have five children, ages 10 to 22. As a school parent, I have led many classroom book clubs and have helped students with writing and editing. For the past five years, I have served as a Spell Bowl coach. Our spellers master hundreds of words in order to participate in two annual competitions. Just as vital, they learn word origins and definitions to increase and improve their vocabulary. I am passionate about sharing my love for reading and writing!
