Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of Harvard College and Indiana University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Physics, my Master of Science in Kinesiology, and my Master of Education in Counseling and Counselor Education. To further pursue my career goal of being a Sport Psychologist, I am working toward my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. For the last 15 years, I have advised and mentored both high school and college students to successfully prepare for and apply to baccalaureate and graduate programs. Helping applicants see the best they have to offer and capture that to the advantage of their future goals and dreams is a richly rewarding experience. As I tutor in any of my subjects, my goal is to bring about and share in a student's "light-bulb" moment: when they understand a previously challenging concept or task, and have earned and rightfully feel a deep sense of mastery - and confidence. I particularly enjoy tutoring in math-based subjects and reading comprehension because they are frequently more challenging for students and thus the light-bulb moments are that much "brighter". I believe the best way to bring about these moments is to offer challenging, but possible, opportunities for incremental success that help show a student both their achieved and potential growth. Above everything else, I work to instill confidence in my students and share in their step-by-step successes. Perhaps not surprisingly, with my interest in sport psychology, when I have free time I tend to spend it being physically active: running, yoga, ice hockey, and travel.
