I graduated from Cumberland County College with an Associates Degree in History in 2016. Within my time there I was accepted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor society while also playing on the college baseball team. Before I graduated I was offered a scholarship to play baseball at James Madison University where I decided to finish my education. After another two years I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in History in 2018.
As of now I spend my summers pursuing a career as a semi-professional baseball player. However, the rest of the year I spend at an elementary school, helping special needs children. When baseball is done for me I will plan on becoming a history teacher.
As of right now I tutor all things history. From early and modern American history, to European and World history. As long as I am informed beforehand what the time period is, there is nothing in history that I feel uncomfortable teaching. And with the amount of writing that I have had to do during my college years I would also feel comfortable teaching basic writing skills.
My philosophy when it comes to tutoring, and learning in general, is to do what works. Every student is different and that means they learn differently. Some need to write things down to remember, others need to see it, while some (like myself) need to hear it. My job is not only to teach but is to give the skills needed to learn independently in the future. And that is my goal. Unlike science and math, history is an endless ocean of information. It cannot all be remembered or mastered. But an individual who has the right tools, for remembering an understanding, will be much more successful further down the line.
As far as hobbies I spend my time playing baseball, writing, and playing video games. I do not watch much baseball on tv but there is no aspect of the game I do not understand. As for my writing I love to historical fictions and I am actually working with a agent to get my first book published. Lastly, I will admit that I have spent whatever free time I have on video games. I play almost exclusively on Xbox. I play Rainbow Six Siege and the Witcher 3 the most. But I must say that Halo will always have a place in my heart.
