I often wondered how my father found his work to be so satisfying and why he seemed to be so chipper to get to work in the morning; that is - until I started preparing for the LSAT. What started as an activity for primarily practical implications turned into a deeply enjoyable activity - so much so that I did logic games for fun in the days following my LSAT administration. I truly believe that this exam can be useful in preparation for a legal education and - perhaps just as importantly - a rewarding experience.

What I love about tutoring is seeing the improvements that clients make. Often times, performance on standardized testing is portrayed in our society as something that is innate or not responsive to preparation however I can unequivocally say that I have not found this to be the case. Persistence and doggedness in the face of confusion and challenge are no match for the LSAT (or GRE).

I primarily tutor the verbal section; I use a variety of different approaches that have helped me to achieve top scores on the verbal/reading comprehension/writing sections of the GRE, ACT, MCAT and DAT.

I scored in the 96th percentile (169) on the LSAT. When I first started preparing for the exam, I was missing most of the questions in the logic games section; however, insights and understanding of the process of improvement and mastery have enabled me to complete the AR section with perfect accuracy and excellent timing. For the logical reasoning section, I have developed a curated set of strategies to gain a thorough and intuitive understanding of the questions as well as a set of tactics to use in approaching the section as a whole. Preparing for the reading comprehension section may often be described as a fool's errand but structural fluency, appropriate approach and the use of logical reasoning (many of which may be developed and refined through the aforementioned sections) over excessive focus on content can often be quite useful.

I am familiar with most major prep companies resources and use an eclectic approach that emphasizes preferences and personal strengths and weaknesses. My approach is informed by the latest learning science, using research to guide optimal retention and recall. An emphasis on active learning and gaining an intuition by which a problem may be reconstructed can be systematically developed and my goal is to help you with this process.

For example, in the case of a logical reasoning stimulus, it may be useful to see the deeper logical relationships between various statements and terms and how they come together to produce an argument and how they add or detract from this effort. Answer choices in such a situation would be explained both on the level of content and on the underlying logical principled upon which they are based.
