Anestoria: St. John tutor
Certified Tutor
I am an outdoor enthusiast with a passion for protecting and preserving the earth. I like to interact with people of varying educational levels and different backgrounds. I started tutoring English as a second language to small groups and have found that learning is a fun experience when students can relate the principles of the subject to everyday operations. This is the approach that I like to use best. I have found it to be most effective regardless of the subject matter. My approach to tutoring is to personalize the subject matter and engage the student using topics with which they are comfortable.
I have realized that a lot of folks have a fear of natural sciences. Science is an integral part of our lives; it is the foundation that has helped us to survive and grow as a species. While my specialty is Earth Sciences, I also help students with study skills. I find that students relate better to the science subjects when scientific principles are linked to common everyday activities such as their hobbies and or special interests. Developing a systematic approach is fundamental to mastery of any subject and I think that designing a method for remembering material studied is of paramount importance. My hobbies are photography, cooking and hiking.
