Rachel: Windsor tutor

Certified Tutor

I am recent grad of Dartmouth College and graduated cum laude with High Honors in Biology, modified with mathematics. I graduated Mercer Island High School as a valedictorian and math award recipient in 2014. At Mercer Island High School, I was the president of the school's tutoring club, Kids Corps. This fall, I will begin a PhD program in Immunology at the University of Washington.

I've spent extensive time abroad and love to learn and teach language. Most recently, I spent a winter in Quito, Ecuador, interning with the NGO Care International. My junior year of college, I spent a quarter abroad in Berlin, immersed in German language and culture. I am excited to tutor Spanish up to the level of working proficiency, and German to intermediate conversation level.

I have always had a passion for math, calculus especially, and even as a high school student, enjoyed helping others learn concepts and engage in critical problem solving.
These critical thinking skills transfer over well to test-taking, and I am happy to serve as a tutor for the ACT, as well as the GRE, which I took last summer in preparation for my gradate program at the University of Washington. I have past experience tutoring ACT, specifically with a focus in the Reading and English sections of the test.

Lastly, I have been playing classical piano since age 5. I continued lessons through college and won second place in a college-wide piano competition my freshman year of school. Music is a passion of mine, and I am excited to share my love for the instrument with students eager to learn.

I am thrilled to begin tutoring with Varsity, and to help others engage with the subjects for which I have so much passion.
