Certified Tutor

I am a college composition instructor with eighteen years of experience in the education industry. I received my Master of Arts in English with a focus on composition studies and contemporary American literature (Miami University of Ohio) and hold a Master of Fine Arts Degree in creative writing (poetry) from Butler University. My undergraduate degree is in elementary education (Indiana University, Bachelor of Science). I have taught, tutored and coached students and individuals of all ages and abilities from pre-kindergarten to working professionals specializing in composition studies (i.e. composing college-level essays, the writing process), elementary school reading and writing, adult literacy (and more please see "My Subjects," below). What I enjoy most about working with clients is empowering them to succeed by helping them develop the necessary knowledge and skill-sets needed to build their confidence and help them thrive in any academic or professional setting. To that end, my approach is highly-individualized, meeting clients "where they are at," and, then, working with them to reach their desired academic or professional goals. Education is empowerment; it is a vital component to improving one's quality of life (including self-confidence). I thoroughly enjoy supporting clients in reaching their targeted aspirations, and, as a result, move from struggle to success.
