Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of St. Philip's College and a current undergraduate student at Texas A&M- San Antonio. I have my Associate of Science with a concentration in biology, and an Associate of Arts in liberal arts. As of May 2018, I have met requirements for a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in psychology at my university, however I voluntarily postponed graduation until December 2018 because I need financial aid to take additional pre-requisites for physician assistant school.

I have one year of experience in paid and volunteer tutoring, where I worked with middle and high school students. I tutored in Spanish, biology, physics, algebra, introductory chemistry, and language arts. I like tutoring because I am very grateful for the education I have received, and I find it personally fulfilling when I help someone else understand material and make them love learning too.

My favorite subjects to tutor are anything under the scope of molecular biology, cellular biology, and microbiology. I also enjoy tutoring introductory physics and introductory/ general chemistry. I am also fluent in Spanish.
Tutors are excellent resources that I have utilized to master introductory lower-level subjects. However, I believe individual study skills are equally important and need to be learned- to make the most out of tutoring sessions, the student must spend time on their own reading and studying the material in an effective way to understand what they do not understand.
Outside of academia, I enjoy watching Youtube videos, reading books, spending time with family, traveling, and training for trail races. I also enjoy managing my university's Pre-health society of which I am president, participating in volunteer work, and learning more medical terms in Spanish.
