Hi Everyone!
My name is Jared Becker and I am incredibly excited to have the opportunity of working with you.
Please, let me tell you a little about my self: I completed my bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Mathematics in December of 2014. Afterward, I took a gap semester to intern with a contract design company where we created custom parts for the biomedical and automotive sectors. Subsequently, in August of 2015, I began my Masters program in Mechanical Engineering. I completed my degree in August of 2018. During both my undergraduate and graduate degrees I worked with students in individual and group settings as a teaching assistant for engineering core and upper level mechanical engineering courses. Collectively, I have been teaching courses for the last 5.5 years consistently. I have worked as a teaching assistant for 5 semesters for Thermodynamics, 3 semesters for Energy Systems Design, 2 semesters for statics, and 1 semester for, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Problem Solving, and Mechanical Systems.
I was one of the few graduate students in my department that actively sought to teach while doing research; the experience of helping a student build confidence in a a subject area that seems out of their reach is one of the most enjoyable academic pursuits I have engaged in.
My teaching philosophy is simple, The goal is to not only expand a students knowledge but to help them build confidence and intellectual dexterity.
My passion for education, learning and teaching is what drives me; it would be a pleasure to put it to good use for you.
