I have been teaching math to elementary and middle school students and even adults for twenty-four years. I enjoy the regularity of math and how it all fits together. I also enjoy helping students appreciate the big picture in math and working with them to understand gaps that might be keeping them from moving forward.

Over my career, I have worked most often as a middle school math teacher but have also taught pre-service teachers to teach math as well as worked with freshman college students on remedial math.

When I am working with a student for tutoring, I like to meet with both the child and the parent and work to understand the family's goal for our work together. This will help me to plan instruction that will help the child gain or improve skills and academic progress.

Though I'm happy to work with a student over time, I'm also available for "emergency" tutoring when a student just needs one time help.

I have two children, including one who struggles academically. This personal experience has helped me to better understand the needs and experiences of families who seek tutoring.
