Nicolas: Wood Dale tutor
Certified Tutor
I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of California San Diego. During my second year in college, after a couple of months of working part-time at the school books store, I got my first opportunity as a tutor. To be honest, I didn't really know if I was going to be any good as a tutor; I knew I was pretty good at math and I needed a better paying job. However, as I got more experience and secured more clients, I saw how much I actually enjoyed tutoring! Providing my clients with the help that they needed to better understand the mathematical concepts was very fulfilling.
I have tutored math at various levels, elementary to AP Calculus. I also have experience working in the local middle schools and high schools as a math tutor, supporting small groups and individual students. In my free time, I like to hang out with my family and friends, play basketball, and read.
There is nothing like chipping away at a problem with a student who initially just wanted the answers to the worksheet. As much as I want my students to do well on their assignments and tests and to receive good grades, I want to push my students to actually understand how to do the problems and to think critically. I know that not all of my students will take advanced math at a college level, but I know most of them, if not all of them, will benefit greatly from hard work and perseverance. I hope to be a small piece of the puzzle in my students success.
