Certified Tutor

I am currently finishing my PhD in theater history from the University of California Santa Barbara. I have five years experience as a classroom instructor, having taught academic writing, theater history, play analysis, acting, and stage management. I also have several years experience working as a professional writing tutor at a community college, where I worked with students from every academic discipline. As much as I love teaching in the classroom, I am truly passionate about my work as a tutor. I love nothing more than working one-on-one with a student as they grapple with the challenges that writing poses. As a tutor, I aim to provide as much guidance as I can, while ensuring that it is you, the student, who is ultimately doing the work of putting words on the page. I aim to help my students not just fix particular writing assignments, but rather to walk away from a session a slightly stronger writer than when we started. In short, I seek to make better writers, not just better texts.
