Certified Tutor

My previous 12 years in the field of Education as a tutor, instructional aide, and long-term substitute teacher, has allowed me to acquire the skills needed to gain results from student learning. These skills include time management, stress management, the ability to accept and understand diversity, and student engagement techniques. I, furthermore, have enhanced these skills through schooling by obtaining two Master of Science degrees one in Higher Education specializing in College Teaching and Learning, as well as Education (K-12) specializing in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.

I enjoy English-Language Arts, specifically the reading, writing, and phonics aspect. This is important to me considering that I can identify the exact needs of the student, create or administer lessons specifically for that need, and then also instruct the student how to understand based on how they learn. I believe in meeting students at their level of learning and pushing them to their fullest potential. I also believe in rewarding progress and redirecting disappointments. I like to use different tools from computer apps to actual textbooks to worksheets, variety is the spice of life with me.

When I have time to myself, I enjoy spending time with my husband and watching any movie, television show, or reality show that involves fashion, decorating, basketball, and criminal justice.
