I first discovered the love of teaching in a roundabout way through my love of music and performance. Being the son of schoolteachers, they often suggested that I take my love of Delta Blues and American Folk Music, and fashion a presentation for schools and libraries that mixed the music with some historical context. Reluctantly, I agreed to try it out and, well what do you know, I was hooked! This lead to realizing that in addition to music and music history, that I'd also developed a store of knowledge and respect for history in general having been a daily newspaper reader since the age of ten. This is an old habit that I still maintain to this day (hey, old-school habits die hard)! Over the years I've enjoyed looking at current events, exploring the historical events and precedence that brought these events to the fore, and the love of sharing them with anyone eager and curious enough to care. Over the years, I've become certified to teach Music (all levels 5-12) while working as a music and ensemble instructor while working in a large music retail and teaching division in MA. I'm also certified to teach History (5-12) in MA. as well, and worked for a year as a History and interim Science teacher in a school for behaviorally challenged children. At the end of 2016, I moved to the metro-Nashville area where I am currently employed as an educational assistant and am working to transfer my teaching licenses.
