I have been teaching biology at the University of Connecticut for roughly forty years, and my passion for teaching and for sharing with my students what I understand about biology grows stronger every day. I teach Introductory Biology for science majors and non-majors alike, cell and molecular biology, and a course in Human Diversity and Evolution. Working closely with my students has taught me that, while it's important to review WHAT will be covered on an assignment or a test, it's even more important to show them HOW to study what will be covered! By giving them a method for studying biology, they (and I) can be more confident that they will be successful in their courses no matter how complex or difficult the subject matter may be. I try to make the science of biology come alive for my students. I hope to show them that the study of biology will give them a deeper understanding of the relationship between humans and the planet we live on, and will give them tools to navigate the dramatic changes in medicine and technology that will surely be a part of their future. I look forward to working with you!
