Certified Tutor
While receiving my Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Mathematics at Seton Hill University, I embarked upon two NSF-REU research programs at Penn State and Duquesne University. Currently at Penn State, I am working on developing a catalyst for the use in solar cells in addition to studying the degradation of perovskite materials. At Duquesne, I worked in a materials science laboratory concerning the development of self-assembled monolayers on titanium and titanium aluminum vanadium. My experience from this research opportunity has allowed me to develop skills in the following areas:
Manage a cooperative lab work environment.
Participate and lead discussions in lab meetings.
Develop strategies using aerosol and solution methods of deposition for liquid coating.
Multi-task on multiple project components.
Problem solve in a high stress environment.
In addition to my experience in the materials science field, I developed key communication and teamwork skills as a Resident Assistant at Seton Hill University. As a Resident Assistant, I frequently programmed events, worked with resident complaints, participated in mediations between residents, and received multiple certifications to develop a safe and healthy community. This experience has allowed me to acquire key skills in direct communication while also upholding the integrity of the University as a student leader and support system.
Awards received include: Sullivan Award (for High Collegiate GPA), Excellence in Organic Chemistry, and the CRC Press Freshman Chemistry Achievement Award.
