When I was at elementary school, I often sat in my father's high school class who was teaching Math to young boys and girls. I found it very inspiring, I grew up in an environment full of energy and fun for Math. My father did not miss any chance to talk about numbers and equations to connect it to our daily life. He even orally helped us to solve Math problems in the car when we were driving to school or to a trip to my grandparents' house. It was only in later life as a tutor that I realized many students struggle in Math and some in Science. The sense of connection and comfort that I felt as a result gave me the initial spark of inspiration to become a teacher.
My love of Mathematics and Science as a discipline developed through being required to take numerous Math and Science courses during my undergraduate as well as my graduate school. I had worked as a tutor for almost seven years while I was completing my education. My students ranged from relatives' and neighbors' children to learning centers'. After I earned my Masters in Chemistry from Tehran university, Iran, due to not being able to find a job as a teacher, I pursued to develop my skills in diverse areas such as research in laboratories. These research endeavors as lab technician, supervisor and environmental chemist, in Iran and The United States, also near twenty published works, allowed me to raise high extent of motivation and creativity and an excellent intellectual and analytical aptitude. Few years later, I was able to find my dream job as a teacher. To enhance my knowledge and skills in teaching, I took seven education courses, in Montgomery college, MD, required to become a certified teacher in the state of Maryland, while I was teaching in high schools. I have been working as a teacher for the last seven years in a high school setting. The subjects I've taught include Chemistry up to AP level, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry with proofs and PreCalculus. I have been simultaneously tutoring in learning centers and as a private tutor in the said subjects along with other subjects: PreAlgebra and middle school Math. Through teaching in school setting, I've gained profession's skills such as planning sequence of lessons, spotting the challenging parts of lessons and diagnosing a student's academic weakness along with maintaining a mutual trust between myself as a teacher and students and their parents. I love working with young people because I treasure the opportunity of inspiring them to take an interest in something that will benefit them in their lives. Other than teaching and tutoring, I spend my spare time with my family, husband and my ten and seven years old sons, in activities such as swimming, biking and hiking. Reading fiction and nonfiction books is among my hobbies too.
