Language is a fascinating thing to me and it would be great to explore it with you! I am TEFL certified and studied Media Communications in college. I lived in Thailand for over a year teaching English as a second language (ESL) in classrooms, to individuals, and to small groups of ALL levels including children and adults. Living there, I experienced and came to understand the many rewards and challenges of learning a new language. What I remember most about being a beginner is the feeling of vulnerability when first trying to speak the language. That is why what is most important in my lessons, is that my students feel comfortable to be themselves in order to learn most effectively!

There is no need to fear making mistakes on your journey to mastering the English language. Getting to know each student's strengths and areas for improvement is very necessary for me as a teacher. Since moving back to the USA I have worked informally with many non-English speakers, giving me experience with creative ways to exchange language. There are many interesting ways of communicating through media, visuals, gestures, and activities that can be used to learn or improve a non-native language. My teaching style is very adaptable to the student I am teaching, while still keeping structure. Everyone learns another language for their own reasons and in their own way! When beginning ESL lessons with me, you can expect to discuss your goals first so that we can choose to focus our time on improving speaking, writing, or a specific project you may have in mind.
