I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

I received my guitar, bass, and baritone uke education from many teachers over the years, by ear, and by playing in many bands since I got an electric bass guitar at age 13. I have my bachelor's from UMSL, but it was in neither Music or Education, yet here I am pursuing both. I couldn't decide what to chase, so I chose the Liberal Arts degree... and honestly, it suits my personality. I have minors in Sociology and Philosophy... and a major in the Liberal Arts. I should be working for special school district by fall, in which case, if I like it and all goes well, I will pursue more degrees in the field of education and such. I've taught a lot of friends music, as well as many of my 10 nieces and nephews. A couple of my stand up bass students became very successful bass players around St. Louis and on the road (landing jobs with such acts as Pokey Lafarge, Miss Jubilee, Rum Drum Ramblers, and the list goes on). I teach rockabilly/blue grass style standup bass, and beginning and intermediate guitar and baritone uke. I prefer to teach whichever instrument you are most interested in. My teaching philosophy would be to focus on what you really WANT to learn, but accept the less interesting and harder to understand lessons, because in music, all aspects of learning will help shape the music into something beautiful; something you. My teaching style is to combine something fun with something beneficial. I am interested in health, life, beauty, friends, family, and BICYCLES! I hope to ride my bike with my instrument to your house (I even have a trailer for my big bass).
