First, let me start out by confessing that I have not always loved math. Like many people, as a student in middle school and high school I did not like math at all. That all changed when I had that one special teacher, Mrs. Hall. She explained mathematical concepts differently than the book, and took the time to re-explain a concept using a different approach (even if it took several different ways of explaining it) until the student was comfortable with the material. This was the turning point for me - I was learning and understanding the material and was hooked.

Everyone has a unique learning style and I do believe that anyone can be good at and like math. I take the same approach to helping students with math as Mrs. Hall took in her classroom - I explain the material using different approaches, tailored for each student, until the student is confident with the concept.

I have a bachelors degree in Math and an MS in Public Health - I have also taken several graduate level math courses. I have 8 years of tutoring experience including high school, community college (remedial math through calculus), and university level students (college algebra through calculus). I have also been a TA for college algebra and pre-calculus, and taught college algebra for several semesters while I was a graduate student.
