Hi my name is Roy. I'd like to tell you about me. I was born and raised in a small town in Ohio. I was an only child with two wonderful parents. I enjoyed growing up there had great friends, a bike and a dog.

It was understood that I was to go to college. That was my first step after high school.

Before finishing college I enlisted in the US Navy and for the fours years played trumpet in the Navy Band. I then played professionally for the next four years.

I returned to college to get a degree in Elementary Education. I taught school for the next eleven years. I earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education during this time. I then went back to school to be certified to teach math in high school. I taught math and moved through several school districts. I then returned to college to work on my Ph. D.
I finished up teaching as a professor at the University of Akron.

I've picked up a lot of hobbies, I guess that's what they are, scuba diving, flying, traveling, skiing and shooting. Due to a disability, I am not able to participate in those activities any longer. However I still fly radio control aircraft, read and play trumpet.

I have tutored off an on over the entire time I have taught. Sometimes to help the student catch up, sometimes to keep the student up and sometimes to show the student new ares to explore.
