I graduated from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI in 2014 with majors in art and biology. I spent a considerable amount of time volunteering as a tutor for kids of all ages, including those with special needs. I love finding ways to make difficult concepts digestible and (if possible) fun.
I haven't forgotten what it's like to be a student; I used to hate math, and in high school my grades were barely passable. The key to learning and succeeding is not only to have a desire to learn, but to have a teacher that can match your learning style. I like to take time to get to know who I'm working with so that I can build a bond and match my abilities to my students' needs.
I'm also pretty funny. A student who is laughing along with me is much more likely to be engaged than one who's bored the whole time!

What is your teaching philosophy?
Teach them how to identify key subjects and actions in a given amount of text. Take each block of text--perhaps a few sentences at a time--and work to understand what's going on and how to relate that information to past events and future ones.
