What is your teaching philosophy?
I allow critical thinking to get answers.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
We break the ice.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Give him the basics and facts that allow him to get knowledge to make sense of his subjects.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
By encouraging him each time he is doing well and giving him support to go forward.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I have to simplify matters and give him examples and any aids that work for him.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Give him self-confidence to read slowly and take time to read every letter correctly.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Let him trust me and trust my knowledge that I am aware of his subjects. His questions are clear for me, and I answer him correctly and on time.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
By giving him an explanation to surround phenomena that make it easy to be remembered.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Let him review and recall some important points.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
Give him some quizzes to let him trust himself.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
By reviewing and handing out quizzes and skills practice.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
When I get the points of weakness and points of strength, I can direct him accordingly.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
Many like hand-outs, PowerPoints, videos, and animations. Also, give him chance to see and do skills by himself.
