I received my Bachelors degree in Elementary education and my Masters degree from Stephen F Austin State University. I have 10 years of teaching experience. Last year, I tutored for Arlington ISD. I have tutored all subjects grades 1-6. My favorite subjects to tutor are math, social studies, and language arts, because I enjoy these subjects the most. I love to teach hands on while also learning their learning styles. I look forward to working with you and your student!

What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy that every child can succeed no matter what.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a typical first session, I would get to know the student, and then do some icebreakers to find out what the student likes and enjoys.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I can do this by at first helping the student; then, eventually letting the student do the concept on his/her own.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Using technology.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would use technology, manipulatives, and activities that are fun.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I make sure the student can read the words, use phonics, teach the student to use the surrounding words to get some comprehension, and use pictures to help also.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Technology and manipulatives.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
Using technology; I would use what the student enjoys and likes to teach the subject, and use arts and crafts.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Testing, asking oral questions, and watching as the student does independent work.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
Praise for everything that the student does well.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
I give assessment testing.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
Technology is a good adaptation. It depends on what problems the student is having.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
I use worksheets, technology games, games in general, and manipulatives.
