Certified Tutor

I moved out from Cincinnati, Ohio with fervor and focus, determination, and likely a touch of dementia as I propelled myself into one of the most challenging professions in the world. I've worked and willed my way to a place where I can certainly call my own shots, and after the journey I've been through, it would mean so much to assist others.

It may seem I have a broad range of skills- this is true. I've worked tirelessly to perform at a high level within multiple disciplines. Perhaps strange for an actress to say, but the majority of my time has been spent as a musician. Since the age of 5 I've studied the piano, and the violin from the age of 6. I trained in the Suzuki Method- a process in which I am still passionate. It it why I can still play anything I hear, and it has been invaluable to me in many ways outside of the musical field as well as within.

A few years ago I had something important to say and I wasn't sure how to say it. I thought about where and how I wanted to make my stand. I decided to create a web series. After years in the city working as an actress, I had access to the best playwrights in the world. I've been involved in development work with the Lark Play Development Center as well as the Labyrinth Theatre Company (founded by Phillip Seymour Hoffman). I've worked on plays from the inception to near completion playing the characters and offering my insight. I'd had a lot of practice developing scripts with some of the best, it was time to try it on my own! Through the process of hacking at my own story to tell, I picked up such exciting and incredible bits of knowledge about creative writing, editing, and organization. I was fortunate to have received national recognition for my work on this web series, and I'm thrilled to have a platform where I can be able to share what I've learned!

What is your teaching philosophy?

Listening above all. Much of what I'd like to focus on in the beginning of our work is to allow the student to teach me what they need to focus on. Listening to their journey will be much more effective than lecturing about mine.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

I have a base of material to begin with, but each student will have their own style and perspective, so I'm very much looking forward to customizing material to fit the individual.
