I have been an educator for 14 years (11 as a classroom teacher and 3 as a vice principal), and I love my job! Both of my parents were also teachers, so it definitely runs in my family. I believe any child can do well if he/she has the ability to do so.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe every child can do well if he/she has the ability and skill set to do so. All children want to do well and, when they are struggling, it's a result of a lagging skills. Once those skills and targeted and intervention is provided, children can find success.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I can help a student become a better learner by instilling confidence that is built on small successes. Consistent formative assessment and targeted instruction helps students shore up lagging skills and, in turn, perform better when giving culminating assessments.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Positive reinforcement and constructive feedback in a way that promotes a growth mindset. Failure is necessary on the road to success.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Scaffold and differentiate until the student can successfully use strategies to be successful on his/her own.
