I pride myself on being a lifelong learner, always open to new experiences and opportunities that expand my outlook on life. The four major areas of emphasis in my upbringing were God, education, creativity, and independence. I was allowed to dream and encouraged to pursue those ambitions. A foundation, focus, sense of stability and ability to express oneself is critical to an individual's sense of self. When a student grasps a new concept, that triumph reinforces that anything can be accomplished through determination and dedication. Facilitating those moments stands as self-actualization, in playing a role in something bigger than me.
I started tutoring in elementary school and continued through middle school. I have tutored in a variety of subjects, in which I favor Math subjects. I graduated high school with an Advanced Academic Diploma in the top 10% of my class. I began a career in Property Management & Sales subsequently moving into the Accounting field. After working for a large bank for a few years, the company went through a massive layoff. I decided to return to school after not being able to find work. I graduated with a Bachelors of Accounting, Summa Cum Laude. I am currently studying for the LSAT and as a lifelong lover of Penny Press Logic Puzzles books, I am enjoying my studies.
My teaching method is centered on allowing the student to learn at a pace and in a way that is tailored to his or her unique circumstances and abilities. The difficulty of mastery is dependent upon the learner. As a teacher, I strive to be respectful, patient, prepared, and consistent. I focus on nurturing the mind and bringing enthusiasm to the learning environment. Lessons are prepared according to the needs of each student and all necessary learning measures are taken to maximize the student's understanding. My goal is to ensure that each student is successful in the classroom and beyond. When a mind is actively engaged, great things can happen!
