What is your teaching philosophy?
Every student has unrealized academic potential. My goal is to tap into it and help the student to achieve that which they never thought possible.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Get to know them! I want to know who they are and what interests them. I also want to know what their academic struggles are and the goals they hope to achieve through our tutoring sessions.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I would encourage them to create assignments and goals for themselves to work towards in-between sessions. I would serve as a guide to keep them accountable, but the goal would ultimately be that they set tasks for themselves to achieve throughout the week.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Giving them concrete goals to work towards is a great way to keep students motivated and on track to accomplishing what they aim to achieve. These goals could be handwritten or mental, but having a running list of things to work towards is effective and incredibly beneficial for young students.
