I believe Language Learning is a lifelong pursuit, and whether it's a short-term goal of passing a proficiency exam or a long-term ambition to master a language, I am excited to help you in your studies. I have been tutoring English for over two years and have been learning Japanese for six; knowing how vastly different these two languages are has given me a greater understanding on how to explain the grammar and cultural nuances between the two. My main objective in working with a student is to help make the learning process fun in order to motivate the student to continue studying even after they no longer require a tutor.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would like to get to know my student's interests and hobbies, so I would ask about those topics. Also, I would ask about their learning experiences with the topic and their goals in order to shape their curriculum. If there's time left-over to answer any questions they have on hand, I would make sure to provide that as well.
