What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe it is crucial to teach to the style and needs of your students. Good teachers and tutors are chameleons.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
My first session, particularly for standardized test prep, involves getting to know the student and letting the student get to know the test.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
It is important to allow students to work through problems after you have taught them concepts on their own. By showing them their own abilities, their confidence as a student will grow.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I tell them to focus on the big picture. It can be difficult to get excited or motivated to study for the SAT, but it's much easier if you contextualize it as working towards a future at your dream college.
