What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is that nothing is impossible and that with a little bit of motivation, you can achieve anything you put your mind to.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would get to know the student. I would want to get to know them personally, but also learn about what they are struggling with and what they feel comfortable with. I would help them with what I could during that session, and then discuss what we can focus on for the next one.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I would help them to first make sure they feel comfortable with the material at hand. Then, I would have them continue practicing until they are to the point where they can TEACH it to me.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would make sure that they know they are supported and that I am here to see them be successful. I would make sure they are excited to come to our sessions and want to learn more each time.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would slow down or take a different approach to learn where their issues are coming from. I would try to show them different ways to try or understand the material at hand.
