I am a tutor with experience ranging from pre-calculus to French to academic essay writing. I hope the material I teach you will stay with you beyond the assignment at hand I try to give a deeper, contextual understanding about the importance of the subjects you're learning in school.

I am a sophomore at Brown University where I major in Urban Studies an interdisciplinary field that covers topics from urban history to statistics. As the news editor at my college daily, I have developed skills in writing and editing, and will help prime your essay so it is clear, effective and well-argued. I especially love writing college admissions essays my Common App essay won first place in the Stage of Life Writing contest in 2014.

In high school, I taught math programs for gifted and talented youth in elementary school and middle school. I have also worked with students with autism and Asperger's to teach social skills therapy.

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe everyone is capable of learning, but some people perform better under different teaching styles than others.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I attempt to identify a student's strengths in a given subject by going through a few practice problems, and then using those skills to capitalize on a student's learning going forward.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

We must go through strategies together until you become a master. This is a matter of developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills so that, going forward, you can become better at learning by yourself in the future!
