I will be getting my bachelors degree at the University of Maryland for Computer Engineering in the spring of 2017. I am currently working for a small company as a software developer. I was a tutor at Howard Community college for a year and a half, where I taught everything from algebra to calculus 1. Trust me when I say I understand that math can be very confusing and frustrating, I have been there. Sometimes you just need a little help here and there. Other times you need to go back and review the basics. I am here to help with all of the above.

I believe you must first fail a lot to succeed. I am here to assist you in learning from your failures and guiding you onto the right path.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would first get to know you a little bit as a person. Then I jump right in and ask where you are having problems. Depending on the situation, we would review some of the foundational material or hit the problem head on.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By letting you come up with the answers. This is what helps you build the intuition to succeed.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I will try to make each problem relatable to real life. Also, I give lots of emotional support.
