I've been teaching French in various settings for the past four years, and I'm currently getting my PhD in French Linguistics. I've taught and tutored all ages and all kinds of students, and I particularly enjoy teaching conversational French to people preparing to travel. I believe language learning is the most fun kind of learning, and I make sure that learning French is an enjoyable experience for my students. A lot of people are intimidated by the challenge of learning a new language, even though they already learned one when they were just a baby! I've seen time and again how when languages are taught properly, learning them goes from intimidating to exciting and fun. What is your teaching philosophy?
The key to learning a difficult subject is simple explanations, well-chosen examples, and lots and lots of practice.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
We would make a study plan based around your needs and do some practice exercises to boost your confidence and give me a sense of where you're at.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
You don't need me to tell you the right answers. Instead, I guide you to correct yourself, which you'll do automatically as you gain more confidence in challenging topics.
