Certified Tutor

I am a third year Mathematics major at the University of Cincinnati and I intend to earn a Masters degree. Also, I will soon be completing a German Studies minor. I have always been inspired by logic and rhythms, and language and Mathematics are monumental examples. I am so excited about learning and education as a whole, and to be able to guide someone into knowledge is truly an honor. I think of myself as a creative, observant and malleable person, and it reflects in my tutoring!

Hobbies

I love to read nonfiction, especially biographies, and fiction novels with positive messages. I cook almost every day, and I enjoy it. Every meal is a new experiment! I am very interested in clothing styles of the past and present, and I like to reflect that in my own style. I also enjoy pondering the big ideas of life with my close friends.

What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy is to always make sure that the fundamentals are understood and deep-rooted. More often than not, the subject will consistently build on what has been previously given, and a comfortable base supports a confident progression.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would introduce them to my excitement and to all of my reasons for why they should love Math! I would also ask them for their position on the subject and, if it is rather negative, continue with a fun session and hope my passion influences a change.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I believe the best thing a tutor can do to help a student to learn independently is to consistently ask them many questions. Instead of stating what they must simply accept, they will be coming to their own conclusion, and thus they have learned it by their answers.
