Certified Tutor
I graduated Juniata College in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Conservation and I hope to pursue a career in environmental education. I have had several internships teaching both in the classroom and outdoors. I can tutor reading, writing, Spanish language and environmental science. I enjoy editing and writing, so I would love to help with essay composition.
I am a patient, organized and flexible instructor, who truly enjoys helping students succeed. I believe that everyone should be given the correct learning tools to reach their potential and I will do everything I can to meet each student's individual needs and cater to their learning style.
Besides teaching, I am passionate about animals, nature, traveling and meeting new people!

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that each student should be given the tools to reach his or her own potential. Everyone learns differently, so material should be presented in a way that caters to multiple learning styles.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
First, the student and I would discuss goals, strengths and weaknesses. Then I might have the student lead me through some sample questions to further assess his or her needs.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I believe that an inquiry-based teaching style allows the student to comprehend and retain concepts better and more independently. Whenever possible, I will guide students to the correct answer instead of just lecturing to them.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I might involve new teaching tools (linguistic, visual, kinesthetic, and musical) whenever possible.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would break down the concept into its simplest parts in order to figure out what the student does not understand.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Reading comprehension is all about practice. We would go through many examples out loud.
