I am a Massachusetts DESE-certified teacher in middle school and high school math, high school biology, chemistry and physics. Currently I am a full-time teacher of college prep Algebra I. In the past I have taught college prep biology, chemistry and honors chemistry. I have a BS in Chemistry with a focus on Health Professions from Gordon College.
I enjoy sports, music, the outdoors, and woodworking. I will work with each student to develop skills in order to make them a better thinker and learner, and to achieve their individual academic goals.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I want to help each student succeed. I do this by working with the particular needs and strengths of each student to identify specific topics, skills, and information to focus on. Each lesson will combine instruction and guided practice.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Ask the student to identify their goals for tutoring, provide me with information on strategies that have worked for the student in the past, and set up a plan of action for future sessions.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Build a solid foundation and understanding of the academic vocabulary and basic skills so the student will feel empowered to research and learn on his/her own. I like to ask the student questions to make them think about the answer to a problem, rather than simply walk them through the steps each time.
