I am currently a Junior at Bryn Mawr College, where I am an Economics major and International Studies minor.
Since my arrival in the US in June 2013, I have been able to secure jobs in varying fields, from retail to sports and education. Each experience has reinforced my appreciation of honest and hard work, while giving me the occasion to meet and network with people.
As a graduate of a very rigorous French lyce (high school), I am accustomed to prioritizing assignments and commitments, a vital skill learned from having a particularly heavy course load in the sciences. For many years at school, I was voted into the position of class representative. This has given me opportunities to be a responsible leader of my peers. I am persuasive yet friendly, a trait that has allowed me to work with others successfully in and outside of school.
When I was thirteen, I elected to participate in an exchange program that involved living in Germany for two months with a family I had never met before. It took me two weeks to adapt to my new environment and the new school. I enjoyed meeting new friends and discovering German life and culture. I returned home with a valuable skill: a better command of the German language.
I am a member of the Student Advisory Board for Bryn Mawr's Leadership, Innovation and Liberal Arts Center. The Center is dedicated to enhance the liberal arts education by offering opportunities for personal and professional growth.
As a tutor and Teaching Assistant for French at Bryn Mawr, I am given the liberty to organize my schedule, prepare the material and conduct tutoring and T.A. sessions with my assigned students. As a lifeguard, my duties are to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the pool area, and provide assistance to swimmers as needed. My involvement with the varsity swim team has led to sessions with pre-K children learning how to swim.
I spent this past Summer working in two different banks back in my hometown Marseille (France). At the Crdit Mutuel, I worked at the front desk and helped clients and bankers with daily operations such as transfers, depositing checks, withdrawing money, and scheduling meetings. At the Banque Populaire, I was assigned to work at the Portfolio Management/Transfer service of the banks headquarters.
