I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

The thing that is truly great about any tutor is that he or she has the distinct ability to bring an obscure subject matter to a student and turn it into something meaningful. When an interested student is exposed to a subject in a setting comfortable setting that lends itself well to learning, which indubitably varies with each individual, the capacity for learning increases tremendously. As someone who grew up with a father who taught at a community college and a grandfather and grandmother who taught at the high school level, the importance of education was instilled in me at a very young age. Although I have graduated from Saginaw Valley State University (Saginaw, MI) with my Bachelor's degree and since entered the professional work world, I continue to further my education through constant reading and research and by attending academic lectures and seminars in my community. I also have plans of obtaining a Master's degree in the very near future.

My true passion lies in the humanities, and I have traveled extensively to regions that pertain to this field of study. These travels have not only helped me become a near-fluent speaker of French and an experienced art historian, but also a very culturally aware individual, which I believe to be an extremely valuable trait for any teacher or tutor. However, such subjects are not the only areas in which I have interest or ability. I also very much enjoy studying astronomy, ecology, European history and politics, and geography. In addition, through studying a second language I have discovered much about the various methods of reading and writing and the importance and functions of grammar and mechanics in both the second language and my mother tongue.
