I am a graduate from one of the best universities in the nation, where I graduated at the top of my class with two degrees: one in Electrical Engineering and the other in Dance. As an electrical engineer, I study digital signal processing and controls, developing projects such as equalizers, audio mixers, and building robots capable of navigating oceans without the need for human operators. As a dancer, I have had the pleasure of learning from the biggest names in our city such as Rachael Lincoln, Mark Haim, Wade Madsen, and many others. Today I work as a software engineer in Seattle, WA and moonlight as a dance performer and creator.
I have many years of experience tutoring students in computer science, high school mathematics, and dance. In college I TAed a digital signal processing class, where I was ranked one of the best teachers in the College of Engineering. I successfully pioneered the first hackathon in San Francisco aimed at teaching middle school, high school, and early college age students how to code. As a dance instructor, I have taught students in both middle and high school. As an instructor, I absolutely love teaching these topics and more because it provides me with the opportunity to propel the next generation to greater heights than mine.
Personally, I believe that all students are capable of learning any topic, and that this can be accomplished by truly picturing exactly how all these concepts work in their head. And exactly how the concepts are pictured is dependent on the learning style of the student, which I will help them discover through the process of tutoring. Discovering this learning style is incredibly important both to me teaching a student, but also to teach a student how to approach learning on their own in the future. Knowledge of this will make their study time more efficient, and help them understand what they need from their teachers in the future.
In my free time, I do yoga, choreograph new works, take class in ballet/modern dance, code fancy things, and play piano.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that all students are capable of learning any topic, and that this can be accomplished by truly picturing exactly how all these concepts work in their head.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would love to learn more about the knowledge and abilities of a student, but most importantly I would figure out their learning style. Knowing this will not only help me teach them, but will also help them teach themselves for the rest of their lives.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
By determining their learning style and teaching them how to harness it, and by showing them how to study and engage with material.
