I am a recent graduate from the University of North Florida, where I earned my Bachelors of Science in Biomedical sciences. I have taken science courses in general biology, microbial biology, virology, parasitology, entomology, molecular and cellular biology, general and organic chemistry, and biochemistry. The math courses I have taken include: pre-calculus, statistics, calculus I,II,and III, as well as physics. During my time at UNF I worked two jobs while attending school full time, so I understand that many times students are trying to juggle school with various other activities. I am currently in the process of becoming an EMT to gain experience in the medical field to aid me in becoming a physicians assistant. Now that I find myself with more free time I am able to spend more time with my hobbies: crossfit, insect collection and display, reading, and spending time with my dogs. I enjoy tutoring in both math and science because of the challenges they present; I believe that the greater the challenge the more the reward the student will receive out the experience. Through tutoring I like to equip students with the necessary tools, understanding, and confidence to overcome these challenging areas.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My approach to tutoring is to provide students with the tools they need to succeed, and to show them how to properly use these tools.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
A typical first session would be used to determine what areas the student has already mastered and what areas need the most attention, as to not waste time in the future going over information the student is already comfortable with.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
To make sure that a student is actually understanding the material, I like to have the student explain a topic or walk me through the solution of a problem. I feel that once you fully understand a topic you will be able to teach it.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
I believe that it is very important to keep a student's confidence high in challenging subjects. When a student becomes discouraged with their progress, I like to show them how far they have come and how they mastered concepts that once seemed nearly impossible to them.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
To start with, I like to have a student try and work through a problem or explain a topic to me. By seeing what parts of the topic are posing the problem, I am able to form a plan to master these problems.
