What is your teaching philosophy?

To put it simply, I believe that everyone is capable of success, and that every student deserves a tutor or instructor receptive to their learning style and educational needs.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

My primary objective is getting to know the student. The more I know about each individual, the more effectively I can tailor my style to suit their educational needs and goals.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I always encourage curiosity and educational inquiry. It's important that every student, regardless of age, find out what interests them and impassions them to learn.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I am an incredibly enthusiastic individual, so I try my hardest to pass that onto my students!

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Sometimes, the best way to work through an challenge is to break it down step by step to isolate the issue. From there (and especially with language), it's all about repetition.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

I use a variety of electronic and physical sources to help my students, depending on the subject.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

Reading comprehension typically comes down to one thing: speed. In my experience, starting slowly and gradually, and working up to faster speeds once a student understands writing styles, is always successful.
